This one's in San Diego, on Sat. 09/18, at the USS Midway, which is now a museum anchored in the harbor. It's part of a week long fundraiser for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network. (SLDN)
These worthy folk help out those servicemembers who have run afoul of the Military's Don't Ask, Don't policy. They also lobby in Congress on the topic as well.

SMASH notes the recent action of the CA State Supreme Court to invalidate 4000 or so marriages that took place earlier this year. He says:
"For the record, I support the concept of gay marriage, but I believe the best way for it to come about would be through popular legislation, and not by judicial fiat. Of course, before that can happen, our society will have to become much more tolerant and understanding regarding homosexuality.
Unfortunately, I fear that if this issue continues to be forced in the courts rather than the legislatures, we can fully expect a popular backlash against the gay rights movement. "
