I think Bush's strength, that of staying on message, actually worked against him this time.

Over at The Evangelical Outpost, they are trying to have a discussion in "Reality and Geography:
A Lesson on the Iraqi Insurgency".
Of course, like most topics on The Evangelical Outpost, it's already devolved into a "does God exist argument" free-for-all, which I would think would have little to do with the topic.
But just in case anyone is still interested and would like some background information, here is an article from The Atlantic which describes the politicking that went on behind the scenes that destroyed any attempt of post-war planning for Iraq.

On the Evangelical Outpost, Joe profiles, oddly enough an evangelist named Francis Schaeffer.
Francis's son Frank Schaeffer, is one of my favorite authors. He describes his upbringing as "strict Calvinist", although he later converted to Greek Orthodoxy.

While reading on Citizen Smash's site about the latest George & the Guard muckraking, I couldn't help but notice that regardless of possibly forged documents, no one disputes that Bush did not finish his National Guard commitment.

What's funny about Zell Miller is that if you think about it, George Bush Sr. is probably now just as far apart from his own party as Zell is on most issues. If he were in office today instead of his son, I think he would have an even tougher time with his party than he did before.

Citizen Smash, in a recent post defining the Bush Doctrine, accuses Andrew Sullivan of being a "Single Issue" voter. It's somewhat of an unfair charge. After all, Smash seems to be voting for Bush primarily based on the "War on Terror", which would also make himself a "Single-Issue" voter. And not to vote for Bush does not mean you are voting for Kerry. However, it is without question, a difficult moral choice for Gay and Lesbian Americans. Do you support Bush because he would be better at conducting the War on Terror? Or do you vote against him because of his call for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit "gay marriage"?
