Note: This is a recycled post. I've been busy, but I got tired of looking at a blank page.
The GayPatriot’s are discussing gay marriage (in between the usual and predictable slams against HRC and LCR).
In one comment section Josh Davenport introduces himself...
"For the record, I'll be joining in here on occasion. I am a 35 year old heterosexual male, father of two, married. For most of my life I have been a libertarian republican. However, after this last election, I am moving toward conservative republican.
My position on gay marriage has gone from "seems OK" to flirting with "undermines fabric of society".
He goes on to make some comments and ask some questions. Since he has been polite I'll attempt to give some answers.
And Joe over at Evangelical Outpost repeats the same old press release knee-jerk sound-bite that's been traveling about the country since the election campaign. He infers that we don't
".... have a right to rename or redefine an institution whose existence precedes and predates the state itself. " He assumes of course that marriage is being redefined.
But he has yet to prove it.
First, here is a quote from Josh:
"Second, from what I've been exposed to, the gay lobby doesn't want civil unions. They want court delivered marriage."
Personally I want no such thing. What I want is recognition of my marriage for what it is; a family. You can't "deliver" marriage to me; you can only choose whether or not you will recognize my family as such.
